So the rumors of my Poker Death have been greatly exaggerated!  After a very long hiatus, I am trying to get a game together Saturday, June 6th, in the usual 8:30 to 9p.m. range.  I sent out an email, but will use this page to keep track of who is in.  Immediately upon sending, I got two yes’s, so I am optimistic we will get a nice turnout.  Tourney, followed by cash game.  I am thinking the buy-in will be about $40?  We can decide on game day.  As always bring your own.  And please one new rule, NO AUTOGRAPHS, PLEASE!  HA HA!

To celebrate my new job and the fact that it will bring me back closer to the Berlin, NJ, home I love, and old friends that I have really missed, I had a card game on July 5th.  A very impromptu, last minute card game. We had newcomers from my Lonaconing neighborhood, (Nick and Mike) and one of the oldest Berlin friends I have, John Schuenemann Sr.  Beebe’s were there as well, and Mike Iulliucci and Rick Hoff. Berlin was very well represented.  New Berlin was there, Old Berlin was there, along with a few great friends that have spent of ton of time with me there… Long story short?  I really felt like I was “home” again.  And that was great.  So great that my downward card spiral continues, and I don’t even care how bad I played!  And I played bad.  And I didn’t get a card all night, and I apologize for the short-stacked Q-10 suited all in that some thought was too loose a call.  Maybe it was.  Who Knows?

And who cares!  I had a great time coming in 8th, and did OK in the cash game that followed.  Now that I am working close to home, I will be SLEEPING MORE.  And I can’t help but think my holdem acumen may return!  EIther way I will be having more games, I hope to see lots of faces, old and new.

Rick Hoff sets Romeo Tournament history for the quickest knockout of all time. Not since Mike Tyson man-handled a striped socked Michael Spinks in 1988 have I seen such a quick KO. ( Spinks by some stroke of luck or foresight had the good sense to wear extra kneepads to break his early fall. I hope Rick was wearing some extra protective gear as well!) Rick drew dealer chip and opened the tourney, one deal later he was crippled to a few chips, one deal after that…4 total, he was done! But hey, he had the class to leave behind several delicious pitchers of Stella Artois that he walked all the way down from his house. (A walk that incidentally probably took longer then the time in the tourney.) After Rick’s early exit, things got tighter then a clam’s ass. Each of the short stacks made attempts as the blinds got higher to stick around, and couldn’t. The final four of Bruce Augustine, Al Vitale, Mike Shirrell and Christopher “Onion” Ounjian. That soon dwindled to ”Dreadlock Mike” and Onion. Chris was strong chip leader going into head to head play, Mike rallied, and they spilt the pot to get us to the cash game. The cash game that followed was a lot of fun. No one bet any crazy amounts and we broke the game up around 3:15.

Looking forward to seeing you all again. I will try for a bigger tourney soon. Work conflicts made me dowhgrade this one to just one table, but a big tourney is coming soon.

To commorate my 38th years commencement I am looking to field a 24 to 32 person event. 4 tables of 8…one table may even be outside, weather permitting. Before you start your summer proper, come play in this Romeo Poker event. Friend of friend welcome. We are looking for a $50 buy in, $10 dollar bounty. ($60 total) Hope to see all the regulars and their friends. We will start a little earlier, hopefully by 8ish. See you all there! And spread the word!

WOW!  When did I forget how to play cards??  Did I leave my “A” game on the Schukyll Expressway all these months?  Sober as a preacher, I summarily got my ass handed to me, by all participants, and went out first of 8.  Rick wins yet another, newcomer Joe takes second.  In a cash game that followed… Rick took home a few more dollars on top of the main pot.  Good time was had by all and it was a good group.  Look forward to seeing many more at my next event, which will be a major event.  Looking for another 24-32 around my b-day in May.  That is TWO wins in a row for Rick Hoff.  Either he has totally figured out the game and the field, or on a great luck streak.  Tune in around May 19, my birthday, to find out, unless one of you hosts a smaller event sooner…

SO FAR… JIM BEACH, TONY ROMEO, RICK HOFF, CHRIS UINJIAN, AL VITALE, MIKE RIZOL, MiKE SHIRRELL, KEVIN MCVEIGH… 2 spots remain.

Interesting crowd as usual at the bigger Romeo Events, and this one did turnout two tables. We had 15. Not the same 15 that I thought, but 15 none the less. I apologize for the late start, but with that many people deciding up to the minute if they are going to play or not, it’s had to plan, hard to decide table arrangements, hard to decide what the chip counts should be, just hard period. SO, we started late, and I do apologize. In the future I will try and keep it as on time as possible. Not to mention, that I pretty much drink the entire time we are waiting on the stragglers, so that probably does not help either!

Still, I think a good time was had by all, the usual bad beats, bad bluffs, 9000 beers, and the ever famous ten of 1:00 am shaky “all in” call from a player famous for such bets. We also had a cash game that followed the main tourney, which I think I may try again in the future as it was not too bad. Although game one will always be a tourney as that is still the most fun to me. Bounties next time for sure, and I’d like to play again in about a month. To the best my inebriated mind can recall, here are the approximate results. See you next time…

Our next tourney is January 26, 2008. The week between the Super Bowl and the Championship games. I am looking for a buy-in between $30-$50. Some of our regulars are in a BIG tourney to the tune of two hundy a head that same day, but for the rest of us unable to afford to play at such stakes, I am having a game.

Specifics (Re-Buys, Bounties, etc. etc.) will depend upon the amount of people that RSVP. The max I will go this time around is 16-20, but since we have not played since March, I will HOPE i can get at least 7 or 8. Doors open at 8 and I am hoping for some of you to come by and hang out for a little, have a few drinks. Help me count chips, set blinds, etc. I have not seen many of you since before I started the job in PA, so I am looking forward to seeing some of you.

PS. Jennifer Tilley may or may not attend. I am thinking not. But I am always hopeful that we break our most ladies at the tourney record which stands at 3

So the 24 on the 24th turned into 23 on the 24th!! I blame the flu!! It was a big tourney, and someone had to win… it was not me!? But I limped into 4th… which means the day paid for itself… MINUS of course the wear and tear on my home!! Anyway, if I can’t win, it was awesome to see some old school berliners take some cash…congrats to matt and mike…and good job randy…you should move to the borough…. SEE YOU ALL IN MAY for the next BIG TOURNEY>>>>
